The other component of IP Exchange is the VoIP Gateway. It is designed for Communications Providers who:
- Operate their own IP network
- Have their own Soft Switch or Session Border
Controllers
- Originate or terminate voice calls using IP
- Require access to other voice or video customers
outside their own network
- Don’t have their own VolP to TDM gateway
The VoIP Gateway allows you to send and receive VoIP traffic between the PSTN and other VoIP BT connected networks. It is an ideal solution for Communications Providers wishing to offer VoIP to both business and domestic customers, but who also wish to limit their capital investment and simplify their contractual arrangements with other providers.
Additionally a VoIP Service Provider can receive a revenue stream for VoIP calls terminating on their network, however this is subject to commercial agreement and depends on the nature and direction of traffic.
